We've wrapped up our negotiations with one transfer target this morning, reaching an agreement for Bayer Leverkusen's Andre Schurrle. With that pretty much done and dusted now, it's time for us to turn our focus to the midfield.
Our top midfield target seems to be Vitesse Arnhem's Marco van Ginkel, who would nicely round out our collection of midfield players. The press caught up to him today and asked about the Premier League, and van Ginkel had the following to say:
"The Premier League is a very good league, I think every young player wants to play there. I know what people want to hear, but I'm not going to say anything about that now. I have to focus on this tournament. After that, I will think about my future - not now."
That's incredibly fair, and really is well handled. He's already miles ahead of Luis Suarez in his dealings with the press, and seems to have masterfully evaded the question without actually saying anything.
For those of you interested, the Netherlands play Italy in the UEFA U21 semifinal on Saturday, and the final is scheduled to be played on Tuesday June 18. After that, it's game on...
