We've been hearing rumors of talks between Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen over the transfer of Andre Schurrle for several days. The German media had more on the potential move today, and have quotes from Bayer sporting director Rudi Voller confirming talks between the clubs have been taking place:
"Yes, I was in London and we have held talks. There is nothing more to say. Nothing has yet been decided."
This would seem to confirm that talks between the clubs have reached a very advanced stage, and I'd expect to begin hearing that a deal is done sometime in the near future. Like the idea of signing Schurrle or hate it, it really looks like it's all but done.
I think most of us are holding out hope that a loan for Kevin De Bruyne is not part of this deal, although I'm sure Bayer are hoping that it is. Whatever the club is thinking on that front though, I'd expect we'll know before the post-season games in the US.
