Florent Malouda is still in exile from the Chelsea squad. The former France international has been training with the youth team after having the gall to refuse to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, and one gets the impression that the club brass would have quite happily have sent him off to the wastes of Siberia had they gotten half a chance. And, ironically, it turns out that Russia might actually offer Malouda escape from his footballing purgatory.
In response to a question regarding whether or not Anzhi Makhachkala have interest in his client, Malouda's agent, Salvador de Miranda, confirmed that Guus Hiddink's side is indeed looking to acquire the winger.
At the moment we are working for Florent to leave Chelsea this winter.
Now we study the offers very carefully and choose the one which has the best conditions for the player. The most important thing is the desire of the player.

Remember that the Russian transfer window's open for a little while longer, so this does remain a possibility. Also, bear in mind that Anzhi tend to pay more than a player's worth -- we managed to recoup an exorbitant fee for Yuri Zhirkov when he moved there in summer 2011 -- and that might might get something out of this. However, the most important factor would be getting out from under Malouda's wages and giving him a chance to play again.
