Nigerian coach knows Kenneth Omeruo will be heading out on loan 'soon'

Most of us expect to see the Nigerian defender leave in January, his national team coach does as well

With January approaching quickly, there will be quite a few moves for Chelsea's youngsters seeking playing time on loan in the coming weeks. One of the youngsters who will likely be heading out is Nigerian Kenneth Omeruo, and Stephen Keshi had the following to say about the youngster's situation recently:

"I know he will leave Chelsea soon and it will be on loan. This is a World Cup year and I've told him that he needs to be playing regularly to have a chance of being part the team to the World Cup."

Omeruo likely would have been heading out on loan in August if not for a shoulder injury which required surgery. With the player now recovered from that injury and Chelsea having little need for him in the current squad, a loan where he'd see regular minutes makes sense for both the player and the club. Throw in the fact that he's been starting regularly for a World Cup qualified nation, and a January move is a no-brainer.

Where Omeruo ends up leaves a little more room for debate, as getting him minutes at the highest possible level would be ideal. I'm not sure that he'd see regular time with a Premier League club this season, so either a move abroad or finding a Championship side would make the most sense from my perspective.
