This morning brought us news that AC Milan were looking to sell forward Mario Balotelli, a player that would be an obvious fit at Chelsea. Balotelli is certainly a player with warts, but he'd be a clear upgrade to the alternatives Jos Mourinho currently has at his disposal.

Unfortunately for Blues fans, AC Milan have issued a statement looking to squash that rumor immediately:

AC Milan smentisce assolutamente e con forza le dichiarazioni che sarebbero state attribuite al Presidente del Milan circa una impensabile collocazione di Mario Balotelli sul mercato. Mario Balotelli è e resta un giocatore del Milan.

Personally, I'm not entirely certain what to make of this series of events. AC Milan are a mess at the moment, hemorrhaging money while playing terrible football. They have an owner involved in several pending criminal matters, while they have a president that seems to feel he's being pushed out the door.

It's entirely possible that Milan have no intention of selling Balotelli, while it's equally possible that the original report is correct and Milan are just in damage control mode. It's very easy to believe that Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani are having a very public difference of opinion, as the pair have hardly looked to be on the same page of late. Regardless, this rumor isn't likely to go away anytime soon, and we'll likely be in for an awfully fun January. Hooray!
