Chelsea scouts are still focusing on Robert Lewandowski, according to reports

While this isn't anything to get too excited about, it's nice to hear that we're still looking closely at Lewandowski

We've seen the transfer rumor mill heating up over the past few days, and there are reports circulating this morning that we had scouts at the Marseille/Dortmund match last night. Tose scouts were supposedly watching a pair of players very closely, and La Provence had the following to report:

Plusieurs recruteurs avaient pris place dans les tribunes, hier soir. Aston Villa, Manchester City et Chelsea avaient notamment dépêché des émissaires. D'après nos informations, l'observateur des Blues a scruté attentivement deux joueurs : l'attaquant de Dortmund Robert Lewandowski et l'Olympien Florian Thauvin, dont il suit la progression de très près.

So Chelsea had scouts in attendance last night, as did a ton of other clubs. Frankly, nobody should be surprised by this, as there were loads of excellent players on the pitch. The report also highlights a pair of players that Chelsea were supposedly focusing on, one that makes a whole lot of sense right now and one that would certainly be for the future.

Robert Lewandowski is free to negotiate with any non-German club in Europe about an almost free summer transfer starting January 1st, so there is every reason to believe the Blues will be in contact and offering a very generous contract. While I'm sure the club already know all that they need to about the Polish striker, seeing as much of him as possible certainly never hurts.

Thauvin just joined Marseille, and is a versatile attacker in the mold of basically every other recent Chelsea buy. He's highly unlikely to be available at the moment, and even if he was, he'd almost certainly be one that didn't fit into the Chelsea first team right away. That said, he's one of the brightest young talents in Europe, so he's certainly worth taking some notes on if we happen to have scouts in attendance anyway.

Aside from the fact that the club are doing their homework, there's probably not anything worth taking from this particular report. That won't stop people from screaming about us scouting more attacking midfielders, but some people won't ever be happy.
