Report: Championship clubs want Patrick Bamford on loan

A trio of clubs have interest in Patrick Bamford, according to The Mirror

Patrick Bamford has been in great form so far this season, scoring 13 times for League One side MK Dons thus far. With that in mind, many fans were certainly wondering whether Chelsea would be looking for a bigger challenge come January 5, when the striker's current loan deal expires.

The Mirror are reporting that several Championship clubs have interest in Bamford, should the Blues decide not to let the player remain at MK Dons. According to their report, all of Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic, and Burnley have expressed interest in taking the player on loan for the remainder of the season.

The report also states that Dons would like to keep the player as well, and if Bamford prefers to remain where he's settled, it's probably worth considering as well.

From my vantage point, any of those three Championship clubs would be fine destinations for the player. Bamford should be able to see plenty of time on the pitch with any of that trio, while getting a taste of slightly better competition in the process. I think he's probably grown enough as a player that a tougher test is in order, so I'd be a bit disappointed if we didn't do our best to give him that opportunity.
