Shakhtar's Willian sold to Anzhi Makhachkala, that should end his continued links to Chelsea

Despite filling their need for a player like Willian over the summer, Chelsea were repeatedly linked to the player. I think his move to Russia should put this rumor to bed.

Scott Heavey

Chelsea spent the better part of two seasons linked to Shakhtar Donetsk star Willian, and then he was heavily linked to one of Chelsea's London rivals when Andre Villas-Boas and Tottenham were interested in adding the exciting playmaker. It doesn't look as if Willian will be coming to London at any time soon though, as Anzhi Makhachkala have agreed to an insane deal that will bring Willian from the Ukraine to Russia.

Willian is a very good player, and many Chelsea fans that weren't familiar got to see just how good he was in the Champions League group stage. This is just silly money for the player though, as he's certainly not a more valuable asset than Lucas Moura or Eden Hazard.

Now that Guus Hiddink has a new toy to play with for the remainder of the season, it should safely end any speculation that Chelsea have any sort of interest in adding Willian going forward. It also makes the Taison to Shakhtar deal make an awful lot of sense. have fun in Russia Willian, and say his to Guus for us!
