Long time Chelsea target Lazar Markovic was rumored to have visited Cobham in advance of a move to the club last month, and yesterday he confirmed as much when talking to local reporters. Markovic had the following to say about the reasoning for his visit to London:
"I was just visiting. The stadium is great, it's a fantastic city, but it does not mean I have moved to Chelsea. I'm used to all kinds of things being written about me and I am sure it will continue until I leave Partizan."
While a January move is unlikely despite several reports that an agreement is already in place, it still seems likely that the young Serbian attacker will eventually end up signing with his favorite club. There is clearly enough interest on the part of both parties to have seen him already tour the facilities at Cobham as well as Stamford Bridge, and despite Markovic downplaying the issue, that type of thing would seem unlikely if there wasn't some sort of advanced discussions going on with his current club.
In all likelihood, we won't hear too much more on a January move for Markovic, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to hear before the next window opens that a deal is already in place that will see Markovic join the club over the summer. If you've seen him play before (and we've profiled him here), you'll likely have no issues with that.
