Normally we wouldn't be too interested in Peter Odemwingie transfer rumours, because nobody wants the West Bromwich Albion striker anywhere particularly near Stamford Bridge, but the fact that he's turned in a transfer request is of interest mostly thanks to the presence of Romelu Lukaku on the Baggies' squad.
For much of the first part of the season, Lukaku was used as an impact substitution on the bench, changing games with his pace and power after Shane Long and Odemwingie tired out the opposition defence. But more recently, we've seen a shift in how Steve Clarke's using his strikers, with Lukaku getting more and more playing time and rewarding his manager with some fantastic performances.
Odemwingie's transfer request (and subsequent Twitter hissy-fit*) means that that state of affairs is very likely to continue, and that can only be good news for the Blues, who will be hoping that Lukaku sees as much of the pitch as possible. Thanks for being a weirdo and wanting to go to QPR, Peter!
*Seriously, read the quotes because they are hilarious.
PS: Here's my friend Ryan Rosenblatt with a video rundown of the January transfer window to date, which I'm inserting just because of his comments on Demba Ba Fernando Torres:
