Chelsea 3-2 Brighton & Hove Albion, Player Ratings: Welcome back to the EnZone

Community player ratings from 10-man Chelsea’s dramatic win over Brighton

1. ENZO FERNÁNDEZ (8.0)

We began the season with a Man of the Match performance from Enzo in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool. I said something about how we’re now entering the Enzo Zone, and was told in no uncertain terms that it should’ve been called the “EnZone”. So, welcome back to the EnZone!

This was Enzo’s highest rated match since that Liverpool draw, and not just because he scored his first two goals for the club (exorcising some penalty demons in the process as well).

Midfield performances can be hard to judge, and this was far from perfect even at 11-v-11, but it was also just the ninth match that Enzo and Caicedo started together (and not all of those were with them strictly in the pivot). It’s all a work in progress, but the individual parts are top quality.

2. THIAGO SILVA (7.6)

When in doubt, vote Thiago Silva.

...and especially after having a bit of a ‘mare last time out and getting written off by more than a few. Not dead yet!

(In fairness, having to drop deep and defend en-masse with ten players probably helped Silva shine more than usual this season. His ability to anticipate, to be in the right place at the right time when everything is in front him remains unmatched.)

3. BENOÎT BADIASHILE (7.3)

Unflappable at the back AND an assist to boot? How is this man only at 7.3??!
