Chelsea fans’ preferred lineup for League Cup quarterfinal against Newcastle United: Just two changes from the weekend

The old adage of not changing a winning lineup combined with our lengthy list of injuries (and thus relative lack of rotation options) and the importance of this game for a potential trophy, sees the WAGNH Community vote for making just two changes from the weekend’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United.

The first change is Malo Gusto coming back in at right back, with Axel Disasi sliding into the middle and Thiago Silva (56%) dropping to the bench. Gusto made a late cameo on Saturday and should be fit to start after missing four in a row. This would be Gusto’s first start since the 2-2 draw against Arsenal back in mid-October in fact.

The other change is Mykhailo Mudryk (45%) dropping out. Enzo Fernández may have gotten a rest over the weekend but he’s been one of the first names on the teamsheet for the voters for some time, and that remains the case.

Same can’t be said for Christopher Nkunku (yet) — either in terms of fitness or, in turn, favor — and he accordingly collects just 28% of the vote. Still more than Armando Broja (25%) and Noni Madueke (5%)! Ian Maatsen gains a respectable 33% but does not quite get the starting nod.

4-2-3-1 (66%)
Petrović (96%) | Colwill (85%), Badiashile (95%), Disasi (68%), Gusto (69%) | Enzo (81%), Caicedo (91%) | Sterling (76%), Gallagher (82%), Palmer (92%) | Jackson (62%)
