Chelsea U21 beat Luton Town U21, 2-1 in a group stage match of the “Premier League Cup” (whatever that is) last night and while I may be unfamiliar with this competition — appears to be the FA (Youth) Cup equivalent for the U21 Premier League — I’m not entirely unfamiliar with Tyrique George scoring ridiculous goals.
The 17-year-old England youth international winger already won Chelsea’s Goal of the Month vote back in April of this year, and had been nominated for both the October and November awards as well ... and now he’s at it again, with this ridiculous 30-yard strike for Chelsea’s second of the night.
Talk about putting your boot through the ball. Pick THAT out!
So yeah, that’s certainly one way to put yourself on the map and get your name into the wider public consciousness — not that scoring wondergoals is the only thing he can do.
George has been with the Academy since age 8, and is blossoming into a very exciting young player, featuring regularly for our U18 and U21 teams now. Remember the name!
(Last night he started alongside the likes of Alfie Gilchrist, Alex Matos, Leo Castledine, and Deivid Washington, all of whom have had some minor senior first-team involvement already this season.)
