Romelu Lukaku has done very well during the international break once again, scoring three times in two games and earning his 100th cap for Belgium at just 28 years of age. He is already sixth on their all-time appearances list, and far and away the leader in their all-time goalscoring list with 67 — and most impressively, with 50 of those coming in his last 50 games.
However, Lukaku did pick up a yellow card in each of the two games last week, which make him ineligible for Belgium’s third match of the break, against Belarus on Wednesday. We’re certainly not going to complain if he is forced to rest however, especially as it turns out that he’s been dealing with a minor thigh problem “for a while”.
“I’ll have a scan of my thigh first [before returning to Chelsea]. I am struggling with a minor issue for a while. And then I will return to Chelsea.”

This also means that we have yet to see Lukaku at 100 per cent capacity — and he already tore Arsenal apart!
We can only hope that this issue is indeed minor, and it won’t turn into an actual long-term concern.
Romelu Lukaku on his plans for the coming days - he’s suspended for the next Belgium game.
