Tiémoué Bakayoko hoping to never come back to Chelsea, stay at AC Milan forever

That’s a long time!

After much deliberation, waiting, and rumor-mongering, Tiémoué Bakayoko sealed his return to AC Milan in the last few days of the summer transfer window, signing on for a two-year loan but also extending his contract with Chelsea to one additional year beyond that.

Milan do have a buy-option, which we’re all hoping they will exercise this time, including Bakayoko himself, who started to lay the groundwork for that outcome in his introductory press conference yesterday.

“I hope to stay here even after these two years on loan, everyone knows how attached I am to this club that I consider my home. [...] At this point in my career I need stability after all these loans, so I hope to stay at Milan for a long time. I will do everything possible to make that happen.”

The buy-option is only about €15m, which might even prove a bargain if Bakayoko manages to recover his form and, even more importantly, stay consistent. That’s been a prevalent theme these last few years, but perhaps this is the season it all changes for him.
