Chelsea beat Aston Villa in the third round of the League Cup tonight, and our reward for that will be a date against Southampton in the fourth round next month. We get to play at Stamford Bridge once again as well.
The draw for the final 16 teams left in the competition was conducted following the conclusion of West Ham’s win against Manchester United (HA!), and while the Hammers were paired with the other half of Manchester next, we got a bit luckier — though with not many upsets happening in this year’s competition yet, it’s a strong field that remains.
Tino Livramento & Co will be at the Bridge for this on either Tuesday the 26th or Wednesday the 27th of October. As with Villa, we will face them in the league a few weeks prior as well, with Saints coming to town on October 2 just ahead of the next international break.
The draw for the League Cup fourth round is as follows:
CHELSEA vs. Southampton
Arsenal vs. Leeds United
Stoke City vs. Brentford
West Ham United vs. Manchester City
Leicester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion
Burnley vs. Tottenham Hotspur
QPR vs. Sunderland
Preston North End vs. Liverpool
