Chelsea have made a very good start to the season, unbeaten in four games, including the UEFA Super Cup, and already among the Premier League leaders with two wins and a draw — with the draw being perhaps the most impressive result, considering it came with 10 men at Anfield.
Commensurate with that start, head coach Thomas Tuchel has earned a nomination for Premier League Manager of the Month for August. While he’s unlikely to win it since he’s up against two managers with the same record but at teams finishing below Chelsea last season (David Moyes at West Ham and Rafa Benítez at Everton) as well as the only manager to have won all three games so far this season (Nuno Espirito Santo at Spurs), it’s still well deserved recognition for the Chelsea boss.

And speaking of bossing it, Marcos Alonso has been turning the clock back to 2016-17 in the first few weeks of the season, keeping Ben Chilwell completely out of the team. In addition to running up and down the left flank all day and all night, and being a key part of our attacking build-up, Alonso scored our first goal of the Premier League season, with a beautifully taken free kick against Crystal Palace.
He’s up against some very strong competition, including West Ham duo Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma, plus Eric Dier of Spurs, Demarai Gray of Everton, and Mason Greenwood of Manchester United. You can vote for Marcos here.
