Expectations are high at Lokomotiv Moscow for young Tino Anjorin — some might say perhaps too high for a 19-year-old, even — but the former Chelsea youth star, who left the club for Ralf Rangnick’s latest project in the final days of the summer transfer window, is off to a great start, scoring a late equalizer today on just his second appearance for the club!
Anjorin had made his debut over the weekend with a brief late cameo in a 2-0 win against Krylya Sovetov in the league, but came on with half and hour still to play today, in the Europa League match against Marseille. Lokomotiv had been trailing since early in the second half, and had been reduced to 10 as well, but Anjorin dragged them back level in the penultimate minute of regulation with a shot from just outside the box that found the bottom corner of Pau López’s net.
The match would finish 1-1, giving Lokomotiv a decent start in their Europa League group that also includes Galatasaray and Lazio.
Anjorin is technically only on loan for the moment, though Lokomotiv have every intention of exercising their buy-option at the earliest opportunity. We have a buy-back option in place on top of that.
So far so good then for young Tino, who should be making his first start for his new club soon as well, perhaps on Monday when they take on bottom of the table FK Ural.
