Chelsea have four first-team players in the final years of their contracts at the moment, and rather curiously they’re all center backs. None of Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rüdiger, Thiago Silva, or César Azpilicueta are currently signed beyond this season — though Christensen should be soon. For the other three, it’s anyone’s guess at the moment, but in the case of Azpi, it’s not something he’s worried about personally.

“I don’t have any concerns. I feel fully trusted by the club since I arrived. At the moment, it is true that my contract ends in June but I just focus on what’s next to train and play the best I can. Everything will take care of itself.

“I don’t need to say anything more. I have to keep doing what I am doing and it will come by itself. Of course, I love to be here, I feel loved since I arrived and my aim is to be here for as long as I can.”

The Captain is in his tenth season at the club, and probably not the last. We can expect an extension at some point closer to the end of the season, if similar situations in the past (e.g. John Terry, especially) are any indication.
