Henry Lawrence, currently on loan at League One side AFC Wimbledon, showed a great bit of ball-control in a tight space as he wriggled his way out and through several opposition players and then laid the ball into the path of Ethan Chislett, who made no mistake in scoring their second goal of the match — on their way to an exciting 4-3 win away against Morecambe on Saturday.
It was a brilliant play and assist from the 19-year-old, who featured as a left back on the night. Lawrence has been ever present since joining, and has made 9 appearances in the last month already (600+ minutes).
Wimbledon also count former Chelsea youth prospect Luke McCormick amongst their numbers (after his transfer this summer), and have Chelsea youth coach James Simmonds on loan as well. (Simmonds recently gave an interview about his experience thus far at Plough Lane).
The Dons are currently fourth in League One, and are one of the most entertaining sides to follow in the English leagues — certainly for neutrals. They have scored more goals than any other team in the top four divisions (15), while also conceding more goals than all but 6 of the 92 professional teams in those tiers (12).
Let’s hope Lawrence brings the latter number down and helps his club mount a promotion challenge.
They're managed by their former academy manager, they've won points in the last ten minutes in like half of those matches, and they're a ton of fun to watch. Henry is doing well too, added an assist yesterday.https://t.co/j3jc2BiNqY
