After going scoreless in his first two appearances for Besiktas, Michy Batshuayi scored twice in his third appearance (and second start) for the current Turkish Süper Lig leaders in their 3-0 victory over Yeni Malatyaspor.
Michy got things started early, finding the back of the net in the 7th minute already. Miralem Pjanić (!) made a peach of a pass down the centre to find the Chelsea loanee, who lost his man easily and put the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper as he went to ground.
While the first goal was all skill, Michy’s second goal — and Besiktas’ third — was mostly luck thanks to a comical error by the opposition goalkeeper, who hit his clearance straight into the striker as he was closing down and the rebound ended up in the back of the net. They all count!
Georges-Kévin Nkoudou scored the other goal of the game in the 10th minute.
If Batshuayi can keep firing, Besiktas will certainly have a good chance of defending their league title after an impressive summer transfer window where they’ve also added Alex Teixeira, Rachid Ghezzal and the aforementioned Pjanić to a roster boasting the likes of Domagoj Vida, Adam Ljajić, and Nkoudou already. Success should also breed a bit more interest in Batshuayi next summer as well!
