It was a complicated and hectic last 24-48 hours for one Saúl Ñíguez, but after all the deadline day drama, he’s now a Chelsea player, for at least this season, but perhaps beyond as well depending on how things go.
“At 11:57 p.m. we finished reviewing the contract and they had to see it there... I was like [David] De Gea. I thought: ‘This is not going to come in and that’s it.’ It has been a long afternoon and night.
“My wife was very nervous, we have had some very complicated days, because this decision is not easy. Leaving my house on a new adventure is complicated.”
Fortunately, everything got submitted and authorized in time, which meant that Saúl could start packing his bags and start heading to London, which he did post-haste. And in fact, just 24 hours later, we have all the usual media duties completed for our new arrival, pictures, interviews, the whole lot. Not much time wasted!

Saúl will presumably start training at Cobham shortly, and join the rest of the non-international players for the next 10 days, giving him plenty of time to come up to speed for Tuchel and be ready for when the season resumes on September 11, at home against Aston Villa!
Welcome, Dreamy Eyes!
