1. ROMELU LUKAKU (9.0)
A debut to remember and hopefully just a taste of what’s to come — especially as sterner tests await than Arsenal.
This was technically Lukaku’s 16th game at a Chelsea player and the fourth time he’s been subject to a player ratings vote: the previous three coming in 2013-14. The rest of his appearances, in 2011-12, happened just before these community ratings became a standard feature for us.
The first Chelsea goal: great hold-up play by Lukaku and a great pass by Kovacic. Arsenal not adapting at all to Chelsea's system, with first 2 goals coming from Tierney following a player inside and Reece James having the whole flank for himself.

2. REECE JAMES (8.8)
First start of the season for Reece James as he begins his third season of Chelsea first-team football at the ripe old age of 21, and based on the evidence of these 90 minutes, he’s going to have a ton of fun playing to and playing off of Lukaku as the focal point.
A goal and an assist, and we’re just getting started!
“I wouldn’t say there’s any pressure on us right now. We have to take it game by game but obviously our aim is to win every week. Everybody here is ambitious and wants to win the title but we just have to take things slowly right now.”

3. ÉDOUARD MENDY (7.7)
Just edging out Captain César Azpilicueta, Édou checks in with another excellent performance, a key save or two, and yet another clean sheet. He’s not been the flashiest or most expensive signing made in the last 12 months, but perhaps the most important.
Petr Cech: 28 clean sheets in his first 48 games for Chelsea.
