The first day of training in (the outskirts of) Dublin, Ireland is in the books, with Chelsea having made the short trip across the narrow sea, then the short journey out to Carton House, and gotten immediately out to the immaculate pitches that we also trained on a couple years ago.
As reported by the official website, the training session including some intense “match-based action on a quarter-sized pitch” as well as “free-kick and penalty-taking practice”, the latter of which prompted a nice celebration from Tammy Abraham, channeling his inner Victor Moses or Celestine Babayaro.
Chelsea’s Instagram also blessed us with a brief Tuchel video, which is aggressively mundane and artfully boring, but does feature some Champions League-winning gum chewing, some stick carrying because he’s not above that, and a decisive whistle, so that’s something.
Since we won’t get to see the team in action until next week, we have to make do with this.
