Chelsea preseason has gotten underway this week, and as in most non-pandemic years, we are set for several friendlies during the multi-week buildup to the actual season. With the COVID-19 pandemic still going on, the Blues once again won’t be doing any sort of globetrotting tours, though we are supposedly set to cross the Irish Sea a couple times, first for a weeklong training camp (in Dublin again maybe?) sometime next week, then for the UEFA Super Cup in Belfast on August 11.
Between those trips, we are scheduled for games against Arsenal (August 1) and Tottenham (August 4), and, as confirmed earlier today, AFC Bournemouth (hi Dom Solanke, Asmir Begovic, and manager Scott Parker!) on July 27 at the Vitality Stadium. The Spurs match (7:45pm on a Wednesday) is the only one scheduled to take place at the Bridge, with Chelsea charging £30 for a ticket — full details on how to get one are available on the official website.
Chelsea will reportedly also host a closed-doors friendly at Cobham this weekend against Peterborough United, who finished second in League One (third division) last season. There aren’t many details available about this game as it will not be televised or streamed unfortunately, but it sounds like it will take place on Saturday.
This game is behind closed doors. We are able to provide a report after the game has concluded. Will be a good test for the #pufc squad. https://t.co/34aWvzbRpx
