Kai Havertz continued his fine form on Monday night as Germany wiped the floor clean with Latvia in a 7-1 friendly win.
Not ten days after scoring the winner against Manchester City in the Champions League final, Havertz set up Germany’s opening goal, had a hand in Germany’s second goal two minutes later, then scored one of his own that was eventually awarded as an own goal by the goalkeeper instead. Germany led 5-0 at the half, with Havertz directly involved in three of those goals.
That’ll do, that’ll do just fine.
Havertz was replaced at half-time by Timo Werner, who’d find the scoresheet as well just five minutes into the second half with a slick finish. And then he’d miss a sitter, though Germany easily could’ve scored in double digits in this game.
Still-masked Antonio Rüdiger played a solid hour, deployed on the left side of a three-man backline just as he has been with Chelsea. He had been replaced by the time Latvia scored their consolation goal.
