Thomas Tuchel's start to his Chelsea career has been nothing short of phenomenal, and the manager has been rewarded for his excellence with a two-year contract extension, on top of the current agreement that lasted until the end of next season.
The wording in the official announcement states, “[...] extended by two years, as agreed when he joined the Club.” So it seems there was a clause in Tuchel’s contract, which allowed for an automatic two-year extension in the off-chance Chelsea won the Champions League — as we did!
Aside from that, he also made sure Chelsea finished in the top four, and helped us reach the FA Cup final.

Here is what Tuchel had to say on the matter.
"I cannot imagine a better occasion for a contract renewal. I am grateful for the experience and very happy to stay part of the Chelsea family.
"There is far more to come and we are looking forward to our next steps with ambition and much anticipation."

As it is with all the major contract extensions at Chelsea, Blues' director Marina Granovskaia also had positive things to say about Tuchel.
“When Thomas joined us in January there was still so much to play for domestically and in Europe. He slotted in seamlessly and immediately became an integral part of the Chelsea family.
“Returning us to the top four in the Premier League was crucial, and we could not be happier with our success in the Champions League which crowned a remarkable season at Chelsea.
“We are obviously extremely pleased therefore to retain Thomas for a further two years, and look forward to more achievements in the coming seasons.”

In modern football, managers don’t tend to stick around for a long time. But we hope Tuchel’s time at Chelsea continues to be as amazing as it has been so far!
