Official: Levi Colwill joins Huddersfield Town on loan from Chelsea

Big step

As previously reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, young Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is set to have his first scent of professional football via loan stint at the Championship level with Huddersfield Town.

Before the loan move, Colwill put pen to paper to a new four-year deal with the Blues. He will be joining Huddersfield on a season-long loan deal to train under head coach Carlos Corberán, who is excited to see what the 18-year-old can bring to Huddersfield’s table in the upcoming season.

“I’m looking forward to working with Levi this season, as he is a very talented player with big potential.

“He has many of the qualities we look for in our centre backs. He is already very impressive physically, and his athletic ability will help the team defend the space in behind. He is also very comfortable in possession, as you would expect from someone who is in the Chelsea Academy.

“We will do everything we can to help him adapt, both off the pitch as he moves north and on the pitch in the Sky Bet Championship.”

A loan move to a Championship club which finished last season six points away from relegation can be a very scary prospect for most 18-year-old footballers. But it seems Colwill is not your average prospect at his age range, and he might have both the talent and motivation to already succeed in a highly demanding environment.

Good luck, Levi!
