Nike Chelsea 2021-22 yellow-black away and colorful third kits leaked

Next year’s home kits from Nike weren’t exactly received with much rejoicing, especially after we lost both finals in which they were used (the men’s FA Cup final and the Women’s Champions League final), but they’ve also been immortalized in a sense already since they were used for the commemorative Champions of Europe shirts following our win in the men’s Champions League final (in which we used this season’s kit).

But they are just part of Nike’s offering for next season, which, according to the usual solid sources for kit leaks, will be yellow for the away kits and some teal-camo number for the third. Could we worse, I suppose — and in fact, this past year’s third kit was horrendous, to say the least.

Yellow for the away kit is certainly a good choice, though Nike couldn’t leave it be at just that, and have apparently added some horizontal stripes (a.k.a. hoops) to it. Maybe they wanted Thomas Tuchel to feel right at home by channeling many a Borussia Dortmund home shirt in the process.

As per Footy Headlines, the yellow shown in the pictures from @esvaphane are the incorrect shade, and when color corrected, will not have a green tint to them (a color Nike calls “Opti Yellow”).

Meanwhile, the third kit combines a teal-black camo base pattern with neon red accents (“hyper crimson”), a variation on Nike’s theme seen in previous years with other teams. I’m sure they’ll come up with some nonsense about how this is Chelsea-esque in the promo materials.

As with most modern kits, they’d look better as simply “fashion” items rather than athletic wear.

At least we’ve got some solid training kits designs (but unfortunately branded once again, with trivago sponsoring).
