Chelsea Player of the Year Mason Mount was a key player in many of our biggest achievements this season, either at the domestic or the continental level. The best and most recent example would obviously be his perfect pass that led to Kai Havertz’s Champions League-winning goal, but there had been plenty of direct and indirect assists, goals, and stellar play in general that won us important matches through the season.

Mount’s contributions have now been recognized not just at the club level, as he was nominated for Premier League Player of the Season today.

Mount is one of eight candidates in the running, and the only Chelsea representative. Premier League champions and Champions League runners-up, Manchester City are the only team with two nominees, former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and defender Rúben Dias. Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, and West Ham’s Tomáš Souček complete the list of nominees.

The winner will be selected via popular vote, and you can cast your vote here.

Mount’s the youngest nominee for Player of the Season, and at just 22, he’s also eligible for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award. The cutoff for this award is still a rather generous 24, which means that Rúben Dias is also a double nominee.

The other six nominees include Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Leeds United goalkeeper Ilan Meslier, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, and Mount’s best bud, West Ham’s Declan Rice.

Mount probably has a better chance of winning this award than the other one, and you can also make your voice heard by voting here before 18:00 BST on June 3rd.
