1. N’GOLO KANTÉ (9.7)
An exceptional (team) performance littered by expectional (individual) performances, probably none so more exceptional than N’Golo Kanté, who brought his absolute very best once again on a crucial European night. His last three Man of the Match awards have all come against either Atlético Madrid or Real Madrid.
2. ÉDOUARD MENDY (9.2)
Also breaking the 9.0 threshold is goalkeeper Édouard Mendy, who hasn’t always had much, if anything to do with Tuchel’s defense playing in front of him, but who certainly earned his rating in this one, with several massive saves at crucial times.
Petr Čech talked in glowing terms about Mendy prior to the match, and it’s certainly proven a great decision to bring him in.
3. KAI HAVERTZ (8.9)
Any number of players could’ve finished third and they all would’ve deserved it. Everyone played very well — team average coming very close to the highest overall in the history of these player ratings, the 8.48 from the 5-0 win over Everton.
