In less than two weeks, football will be back, Euro-style. The 2020 2021 European Championships begin on June 11, and that means that time is running out to confirm the final 26-man squads for the tournament.
Most participants have already done so, but a few had only announced provisional squads so far. Italy joined the latter category yesterday by announcing a 28-man provisional squad, which will see two players cut by Tuesday’s deadline.
The Azzurri have of course called on Jorginho, but somewhat surprisingly Emerson is there as well (or will be in a couple days) despite hardly playing for Chelsea. Italy head coach Roberto Mancini obviously rates the left back, even if his minutes have been severely lacking.

Also confirmed is the participation of Ethan Ampadu, who got the call as expected from Wales. Ampadu played a good amount for relegated Sheffield United this season, and has become a regular for his national team over the past few years even at such a young age (still just 20).
Congrats, Ethan!
