Chelsea loanee Trevoh Chalobah finished his already excellent season on loan at Ligue 1 side FC Lorient on a massive high note, with a goal against Strasbourg on the final matchday.
Lorient were trailing 0-1 ten minutes into the second half when the 21-year-old scored from a set piece to equalize and earn his team the solitary point. From a free kick that was essentially a short corner, Enzo Le Fée flung the ball along the ground, which found an unmarked Chalobah, who did the rest.
Pour ceux qui étaient trop stressés pour regarder le match et qui faisaient les cent pas dans la cuisine en cherchant leur respiration.

The point ensured that Lorient, who had been hovering just above the relegation zone all season, finished two points clear of the drop (as did Strasbourg). Brest and Nantes both lost on the final matchday, with the latter joining Nimes and Dijon in going down. Lorient meanwhile finished in 16th place, to ensure survival after their first season back in the French top flight.
Chalobah, who’s not missed a minute since February, while playing mostly in a back-three (but can also play defensive midfield), has been one of the most outstanding members of this season’s Loan Army, and surely deserves a shot at the first-team alongside the likes of Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi.
