Chelsea loanee Matt Miazga delivered another big-game performance for Anderlecht, this time against league-leaders, Club Brugge yesterday.
In the 65th minute, Miazga sprayed an exquisite long pass over the top to Manchester City loanee Lukas Nmecha, who raced forward and coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net for his side’s second goal, reducing Brugge’s lead to just one goal.
While Anderlecht would complete the comeback in the final minute to draw 3-3, the scoreline had a much bigger impact on their opponents, who must now confirm their league title against second-place Genk on the final weekend.
Anderlecht are set to finish either third or fourth (they play Antwerp on the final weekend, who are one point behind currently), with both teams set to enter the new Europa Conference League qualifiers next season.
If all goes well, they will do so with Matt Miazga on the team still. The USA international has spoken of his desire to stay at Anderlecht on a permanent basis, and his performances this season, and especially as of late may just see his wish fulfilled.
