1. THIAGO SILVA (6.5)
Despite being one of our highest rated players overall for the season, this is only Thiago Silva’s second Man of the Match award, which speaks volumes about his consistency and general level of excellence that he’s showed all season (outside of whatever happens against West Brom every time) — not to mention his influence on others in helping to raise their games as well.
Signing Silva on a free last summer seemed little more than a desperation stopgap and last resort, but he’s truly proven that in his case, age is just a number. All signs point to him staying on for at least one more year, which is great news.
2. KEPA ARRIZABALAGA (6.4)
Kepa’s put together a series of solid-to-good performances, and while he was partly culpable in the goal conceded — despite great effort to keep out the own goal initially — he did well enough otherwise.
3. CÉSAR AZPILICUETA (6.2)
Dave just narrowly beat out both Billy Gilmour and Reece James for third spot on the podium, and while he wasn’t spectacular, he was his usual solid self back in the back-three for the injured Andreas Christensen. With the younger defender now battling a hamstring injury, Azpi will be needed to step up in the FA Cup final and probably the Champions League final as well to help fulfill his Chelsea destiny.
