The kit leaks for next year’s home shirt have received a ... mixed ... reaction, shall we say, to put it mildly, but as is often the case with controversial designs, it might yet become memorable in a few years.

In the meantime, the shirt is here, it’s real, and it’s certainly head-turning. Maybe not for all the right reasons, but like BMW’s new bucktooth grille, it’ll certainly get the people talking.

And it also helps that it comes with a most excellent kit launch video — on par with 2019’s and 2013’s — featuring the likes of Mason “Cool” Mount, DJ Jazzy CHO, Sam “Life of the Party” Kerr, Fran “Lion Queen” Kirby, and Hakim “Piano Man” Ziyech, plus cameos from Timo Werner, Pernille Harder, Magda Eriksson, and Academy boys Levi Colwill and Lewis Bate — all set to a most groovy 60s tune from The Zombies called “Time of the Season”. (The Zombies hail from St.Albans, just outside London to the northwest.)

Enjoy!

UPDATE: The Zombies’s Colin Blunstone is a lifelong supporter as it turns out! Chelsea legend Frank Blunstone is his uncle!

Some of the training gear featured, especially Mount’s jacket, look very nice as well, if the kit’s a bit too much for your tastes. The kaleidoscopic design continues onto the shorts as well, also with a yellow side stripe.

The new kit will be first worn this weekend, in the FA Cup final, and is available in all its usual overpriced-ness at all the usual places.
