1. MASON MOUNT (8.4)
This is Match-winner Money Mase’s seventh Man of the Match in these here ratings, which is most on the team. Six of those seven have come since the turn of the year — he’s been the Man of the Match in six of his last fourteen starts in all competitions in fact.
Meanwhile, he’s now also become the team leader in overall average rating, at a very nice 6.9. Mendy (who’s been Man of the Match six times) and Kanté (three times MoM) are still hanging on at 6.8, but Mount’s well on track to being our Player of the Year by just about every awards-metric.
2. BEN CHILWELL (8.0)
Few had ever settled in as quickly and as well at Chelsea as Chilwell had at the very start of the season, looking like he was practically born at Cobham, and while his performances dipped during the winter months, he’s beginning to adjust to Tuchel’s wing-back formation now as well. He’s started five of our last eight in all competitions and he’s even added a goal a la Alonso.
(NB. I could do without the forced meme-ing of this goal with Torres’ goal against Barcelona back in 2012 though.)
3. EDOUARD MENDY (7.8)
Mendy had it very easy for a while under Tuchel, but he’s had to come up with a few big stops as of late, including a solid parry on a shot from Marega in this game to keep his latest clean sheet (I’ve lost count). With both of Porto’s leading goalscorers returning from suspension for the second leg, Mendy’s gonna have to stay sharp.
