Despite the general consensus being that midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko is a talented footballer in his own right, his lack of consistency has truly pegged him back in his career. That appears to be the story this season as well, with the Chelsea loanee struggling to find form in the second half of the season at Italian club Napoli. However, Bakayoko is still capable of doing the spectacular at times, and the latest exhibit came in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Torino.
Bakayoko received the ball under pressure from opposition players, before dribbling between two of them. He then shuffled across another Torino defender, and then fired a long-range shot into the left corner of the goal in the 11th minute. A good strike indeed!
Despite his good performance, it appears to be too little too late for the 26-year-old, with Corriere Del Mezzogiorno (via Sport Witness) reporting that Napoli are still not contemplating keeping him permanently. However, should Bakayoko keep his good showings till the end of the season, there’s little doubt that other clubs will soon take notice.
Meanwhile in France, centre-back Trevoh Chalobah registered his first assist of the season. The 21-year-old is doing all he can to keep his club, Lorient, in Ligue 1 next season, and his latest valuable contribution arrived in his side’s 4-1 win over Bordeaux.

Lorient’s backline were trying to stop an attacking foray from Bordeaux, and the ball fell to Chalobah’s feet just outside his team’s box. He took one touch to control the ball and with the second one, fired the ball over the top of opposition players, to find striker Terem Moffi between two defenders. The Nigerian attacker then sped away, beat the onrushing goalkeeper, and calmly slotted it into the net. And thus, Moffi’s hattrick was complete.
Lorient are currently 17th in the table, four points ahead of 18th place Nantes. If they avoid relegation, Trevoh will likely be heralded as one of their heroes.
