Just hours after qualifying for The Super League, Tottenham Hotspur have sacked José Mourinho. Even more hilariously, they’ve decided to pull the plug on The Special On(c)e just a week before he could’ve actually won a trophy for them, with Spurs set to take on Manchester City in the upcoming weekend’s League Cup final.
Mourinho had already lost 13 games this season in all competitions, the most in his storied career. In fairness, he probably would’ve eclipsed that number in 2015-16, when he had lost 10 times with Chelsea before getting the heave-ho in December.
Even by Mourinho’s standards, this is has been a quick stint, lasting fewer than 100 games and just 17 months, one less than even Frank Lampard’s time as Chelsea manager! Mourinho had won just 44 of the 86 games in charge, the second worst winning percentage of his career after a brief 20-game spell in charge of União de Leiria in 2001.
Where to now, José? The Super League?
The Club can today announce that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have been relieved of their duties.#THFC ⚪️ #COYS
