Tuchel: ‘I am here to win titles, I am here to win games’

Tuchel declares a fully fit squad but Kanté’s inclusion will be a last minute decision against Porto

Chelsea's reaction from an embarrassing 5-2 loss to West Bromwich Albion in the league has been rather impressive, with the Blues winning 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League Quarterfinals against Porto, followed by a 4-1 victory against Crystal Palace in the league.

Focus shifts back to the Champions League with Chelsea taking on Porto in the second leg of the Quarterfinals, holding a 2 goal advantage. Tuchel declares a fully fit squad once again but Kante faces a late fitness test as the Frenchman wasn't able to train normally due to a hectic travelling schedule.

"First of all I was unbelievably happy when he came with us last week because I didn’t expect it but then he arrived off the bench against Palace. He was confident enough to return earlier, to help us in the last 15 minutes against Palace.

"But now he, the downside of this position, this situation, was that he lost a little bit of sleep after the travel issues, less work in training, then he was sitting on the bench and only playing 20 minutes, the next day he suffered from travelling and could not train like he normally trains.

"We decided to play him from the bench against Palace but honestly, the decision I will make tomorrow morning when I see him in training then we will look at the others and how they feel.

"Normally it is hard to imagine this game without NG but at the same time we really need to be absolutely careful with him and his situation. It is maybe a question for tomorrow, do we want him to start or to finish the game for us."

Chelsea are just 90 minutes (120 in case Porto manage to take the tie to extra time) away from their first Champions League Semifinal appearance since 2014, with the prospect of facing one of Real Madrid and Liverpool. It's difficult to not get excited at the prospect of seeing the men in blue lift the Big Ears for just the second time in the club's history, especially when you come across a thread of coincidences like this.

Tuchel is in control of his emotions and perfectly sums up the demands and standards of a top club like Chelsea when it comes to win major silverwares. Chelsea has the possibility to finish the season with two Cups and Tuchel is hell bent on winning both.

"Maybe when you are in the final. We are in the second leg of the quarter final of the Champions League, you will not find any team who does not have the goal to reach the semi final.

"We are in the semi final of the FA Cup and have the chance to arrive in the final, if we arrive in the final then we have the chance to win. There is nothing to hide. This is a club that has culture, a structure, to win titles and win games consecutively. Chelsea is the club that has the culture and the history and mentality to do so.

"I am here to win titles, I am here to win games and as a result, win titles. This is what I demand of myself so why should we now say anything different? If you want to win in five years or three years, I don’t what that is."

The attitude cannot be better to approach the second leg. Let's hope to seal the tie tomorrow!
