Chelsea 2021-22 home kit looks a bit over-the-top, supposedly spotted for sale

Jesus Mary and Joseph and all of his carpenter friends

When the first rumors of Chelsea’s home shirt for next season broke, I had high hopes that the yellow accents would mean that we’d get something close to the iconic and, to me, still best-ever 2008-09 home shirt. Or maybe it not close, at least not something outrageously gaudy, busy, and over the top.

Alas, that is probably not to be the case.

Next season’s home shirt has been spotted in the wild apparently — supposedly at a Nike Shop in Mexico City — if a couple enterprising Twitterers are to be believed, whose pictures have been picked up by @ChelseaExeterTV, whoever they may be, and then the ever-reliable Footy Headlines.

As Footy Headlines point out, these shirts do match the leaks they’ve seen that were released as part of a fashion shoot for next season. So there is a small chance that these are just some training shirts or some sort lifestyle designs, but I have a sinking feeling they may actually be the real thing for next season’s actual home shirts.

In which case, wtaf.

Maybe our intention is to blind and confuse or hypnotize our opponents with this design?
