A week ago, a certain dubious rumor made its way into the Chelsea rumor mill, proclaiming that the Blues hierarchy are willing to using Timo Werner as makeweight — along with a €100m offer — in a deal to bring Erling Braut Haaland to Stamford Bridge. If the preposterousness of those claims weren’t obvious already, BILD (via Sport Witness) have debunked them entirely now.
According to the report, Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has big plans for the German international come next season, and is by no means looking to cut ties with the 25-year-old.

Tuchel has been promised a big-name signing by the higher-ups at the club, and that will not affect Timo Werner’s future in any way, with Werner expected to play alongside Haaland should we win the race for the 20-year-old. (For what it’s worth, that has seemingly always been the plan anyways since the Athletic’s exclusive story on Chelsea’s interest in Haaland was published back in January.)
The report also notes that Thomas Tuchel’s acrimonious separation from Borussia Dortmund back in 2017 could ‘create a barrier’, but it’s very unlikely that a personal vendetta will get in the way of a major business decision.
