FULL TIME: Chelsea win!

90+3min: One last chance for a Son snapshot after Alonso makes a good tackle on Lucas. Over the bar and that should be that.

90+1min: Good aerial win by Christensen and James gets it clear for a throw.

90min: Kante wins the ball high up and gets the ball to Werner, who’s in the area and has space to shoot. But Dier makes another great block.

88min: Azpi yellow for fouling Son, centrally, almost 30 yards out. Spurs line up for a shot, with Dier and Lamela. Dier goes for the far post instead of the piledriver. Misses the target, though not by much.

87min: Spurs play around Chelsea on the right and Aurier has time and space to cross. He finds Vinicious on the far post, but fortunately sends his header inches wide of the post. Lucky.

86min: Lucas hammers one well over the bar from distance.

84min: Mount puts it in, looking for Rudiger, but it’s over his head. Chelsea retain possession, and eventually work the ball around for a Pulisic shot, but it’s blocked and Lloris collects the looping ball.

83min: Pulisic wins a foul off Hojbjerg, 25+ yards out, right channel. Decent shooting position, though a bit far out.

82min: Alonso wins the ball and plays to Werner, who crosses in, but no one’s there.

81min: Kante into the book for chopping down Lucas in the middle. Chelsea, with everyone back, hack the ball clear.

80min: Spurs play around Chelsea on the right, but Azpi’s well positioned to clear the early ball in. Mendy collects the next ball in.

79min: Mendy called into action for the first time in the game with a good save low as Lamela took aim from 20 yards. Spurs pressing for that equalizer.

76min: Kante alert to a Davies cross, who had gotten behind James on the wing.

75min: Lloris makes a fantastic save down low as Mount turns in the area and looks for the bottom corner across the goalkeeper.

74min: Werner, James, and Pulisic see shots blocked in quick succession, but then the whole play is brought back hilariously for Werner being offside on the initial long ball down the left channel.

73min: Son wins a free kick off Pulisic, but Chelsea defend the free kick well enough. Kovacic picks up the ball and wins a foul to get us a bit of breathing room. He’s replaced by Kante afterwards.

72min: Son wins a corner, which he takes short. Chelsea napping a bit, but Christensen clears.

71min: Pulisic goes for a run, holding off Hojbjerg, but can’t find either Werner or Mount to make the counter count.

68min: Jorginho wins the ball on the halfway and gives it to Kovacic, who has the freedom of the park to attack the box. He could play left or right, but delays and opts to shoot instead, by which time the two remaining Spurs defenders close on him. The shot is weak and wide.

67min: Spurs get in behind, but Bergwijn’s cutback reaches only Christensen, who can calmly play out.

66min: Dier with a ridiculously tough ball back to Lloris, who has to head clear from his own six-yard box. Mount gets a foot to it, but he is well wide of the net. Chelsea retain possession and eventually chip in towards Pulisic. Lloris out quickly to get there just ahead of the Chelsea man.

65min: Pulisic on for Hudson-Odoi, who’s run his race.

64min: Mount looks for Werner with a reverse ball, but Spurs clear. Alonso presses high and wins the ball back. Werner puts in a nice cross from the left, but no one’s home to tap it in. James collects on the far side, laying it back to Alonso at the top who goes for the right-footed first-time effort, but it’s over the bar.

63min: Hojbjerg into the book for a late tackle on Jorginho.

60min: Chelsea counter as Kovacic turns masterfully and finds Mount who has space to take. He leads the counter and plays through for Werner, who takes a touch and looks set to score before Aurier dives in and makes an amazing sliding challenge to prevent that. Mount’s first corner results in a second, which finds Azpilicueta. His header is off target but Rudiger’s there to take a touch and a shot, which is blocked by Dier. Rudi called offside anyway.

56min: Kovacic wins the ball in midfield and turns upfield. He plays to Mount, who gives it back, but Kova’s shot in the area is blocked by Dier’s family jewels. He stays down in a bit of amusing pain, but should be able to run it off.

55min: Werner whistled for a high boot, which apparently scared Alderweireld or some such.

54min: This time a bit better from Chelsea, playing out right to left, then Alonso getting us moving forward by playing to Kovacic. James, Mount, and Hudson-Odoi combine on the right briefly, before the latter opts for a 25-yard shot, which is hit hard and low and true but some distance wide of the far post.

52min: Chelsea again having some trouble playing through the press. Davies wins the ball from James, but fortunately we get a foul call.

50min: Alderweireld into the book for chopping down Mount.

49min: Ndombele puts on a clinic in midfield, but Chelsea stay strong and eventually win it back through sheer numbers and Kovacic wins a foul off Davies to get us back in possession. Ndombele seems to pick up a knock in the process as well.

48min: Chelsea playing with fire at the back as Spurs press. Jorginho buys a foul off Son to give us some breathing room.

47min: Spurs with an early corner as Alonso deals with a cross. Son with the outswinger from the right, Alonso heads clear. Reece James chests the ball back to Mendy in the second phase.

SECOND HALF: No changes for either side as Spurs restart proceedings.

HALF-TIME: It’s been all Chelsea, but leading only 1-0.

45+2min: Great chance for Mount after good work from James to cut inside his man and play square. Mount takes a touch but his shot is well blocked by a sliding Dier.

45+1min: Dier does better this time to win the ball cleanly from Hudson-Odoi, who was sent in behind the line. CHO keeps the pressure on to prevent any long balls out however.

45min: Alonso sends one long for Hudson-Odoi to chase. He cuts inside from the right and goes for a shot instead of trying to find the wide open James on the other flank. The shot is blocked and Spurs have the ball.

43min: Chelsea press high, but Son buys a foul off Azpi. Chelsea eventually win it back on the other flank.

42min: Alonso with a foul out wide. Son puts it in and Aurier is unmarked and gets his head to it, but fortunately he misses the target.

40min: Hudson-Odoi played in by James, but opts for cross instead of a cutback and it’s headed clear for a corner. Mount takes that short and gets it back from CHO, and looks to stand it up towards the back post, but mis-hits his cross over and out.

37min: Azpi gets a flailing, accidental-ish elbow from Vinicius. Foul, no card.

35min: Looks like Silva’s day is done as he limps off, favoring his right leg. Christensen on for his Tuchel debut.

33min: Another nice interception by Silva, but he stays down seemingly injured on the reach. Chelsea put the ball out of play so that he can get some treatment.

32min: Jorginho finds Mount outside the area with room to turn and shoot. But he drags his left-footed shot well wide of the far post.

30min: Kovacic bursts through and plays in to Werner, but he has no room to shoot. Chelsea swing the ball right, but a couple loose touches and slips on the wet surface give Spurs the chance to win a throw.

27min: Spurs chance to counter, but Silva makes a tremendous interception as Bergwijn tries to find Vinicius.

26min: Chelsea keeping up the pressure, with CHO working hard to win the ball back from Hojbjerg. Not quite able to create an opening, but we retain possession.

24min: GOALLLL!!!! JORGINHO!!!! Jorgi goes for power(!) and scores! 1-0, CHELSEA!

23min: Penalty! Azpi sends a big ball in from the halfway line again. Werner battles with Dier for it. Dier goes to ground, then trips Werner as he tries to find the loose ball. Jorginho the taker...

19min: Spurs counter with Vinicius, who switches left towards Ndombele. His sliced cross is no trouble for Mendy.

17min: Spurs with a bit of possession, which ends in Ndombele trying to find Son in the area, unsuccessfully. Mendy gathers.

16min: Chelsea trying to create on the right, but can’t quite make inroads this time. Good work from James and Werner to stop any quick counters.

14min: Another Chelsea corner, as Aurier puts a ball out somewhat unnecessarily. Mount swings it in, but Rudiger and Silva get in each other’s way. Spurs try to counter, but James and Kovacic are alert to that, and quickly turn it back around. Mount’s ball in from the left is deflected into the arms of the goalkeeper.

12min: Hudson-Odoi and James combine well, with the latter crossing low towards Mount running across the front post. He can’t quite sort his feet out, and Spurs can clear before Alonso arrives on the scene.

11min: Chelsea combining well, with Spurs happy to defend. Jorginho sends a ball through for Mount, who lays it off to Werner, but he slips at the crucial moment. Chelsea retain possession, but Hudson-Odoi’s cross-shot is deflected for a corner, which comes to nothing.

7min: Kovacic sends a ball through for James; it’s a bit hard, but Davies puts it out for a corner. Mount takes, it’s just over the head of someone. Alonso gathers and tries a similar volley to last game, but it’s blocked and Spurs can counter. Chelsea recover just well enough to stop that.

5min: Spurs push on the right, but Chelsea slow them down. Son settles for a 25-yard shot, which is easily gathered by Mendy.

4min: Hudson-Odoi and Mount combine on the right, but the latter’s cross is blocked for a corner. Mount takes it, with Alonso coming short, but Spurs step up quickly and put Mount offside on the return ball.

2min: Werner fouled by Ndombele. Chelsea free kick outside the corner of the penalty area. Mount swings it in, but Spurs head clear.

1min: Azpi with a deep ball from the halfway line, which actually finds Werner’s head, but his header is well over the bar.

KICK-OFF: The players are out, Chelsea in all blue, including the socks. Spurs in their usual white with navy shorts. The players take a knee, and then we’re off, with Mason Mount rolling the ball back from the center spot.

A place in the top six is on the line as 8th-place Chelsea visit 7th-place Tottenham in the latest edition of this rivalry, which as usual has plenty of subplots and sideshows and whatnots. Drama’s sure to follow. Can Chelsea build on the decent start under Tuchel? Will Mourinho troll us instead? Spurs have not been playing well, but you know how that goes.

Looks like Tuchel’s sticking with wing-backs, though with Reece James getting the start and Hudson-Odoi moving up top, where Mount is likely to play as the No.10 behind Callum and Timo.

Here we go.
