Armando Broja’s loan stint at Chelsea B Vitesse Arnhem has been a great success so far, just as it had been for several other Chelsea loanees before. The 19-year-old has already managed 9 goals and 2 assists in just 13 league starts in his first ever foray into senior professional football.
His latest in either category came yesterday against 15th place VVV-Venlo, while helping Vitesse to a 4-1 victory. In just the 3rd minute of the game, Broja powered through the opposition box, and squared the ball to his fellow centre forward, Loïs Openda, who blasted the shot into the net.
The assist was good, but Broja’s goal was even better, though he kept us waiting until the 82nd minute. He himself got the move started with a brilliant through-ball to Matúš Bero, who turned wonderfully and cut the ball for Broja to deposit it into the bottom corner. A brilliant two-man play indeed!
Broja has been one of the most prolific young strikers in Europe this season, and a tougher assignment surely awaits next season. With the Chelsea higher-ups reportedly taking notice, there’s no doubt that the sky is the limit for the young man!
Having now also taken the time to check other leagues, no teenager in top flight football in Russia, Portugal, Ukraine or Belgium has scored more than Broja either, so it's entirely fair to say he's the top-scoring teenager in Europe's top leagues.
