Luke McCormick has become a mainstay of Bristol Rovers since arriving from Chelsea last summer, with the 22-year-old making 27 appearances already for the League One side across all competitions in the second loan assignment of his young career.
Unfortunately, Rovers have been woefully out of form over the past couple months, with just 1 win in their last 11 games, and have dropped to 21st in the league, one point from safety. (The bottom 7 teams of the 24-team division are separated by just three points heading into the weekend, with the bottom 4 going down.)
But McCormick is certainly try his best to help the team avoid relegation, including with this excellent free kick against Crewe Alexandra, which has won the League One Goal of the Month award for January. (Ed.note: it’s not often you see a player go for the non-wall-side top corner, and even less often see them do so successfuly.) It was McCormick’s second goal of the season.

McCormick was rightly pleased with his effort as well, but obviously would have preferred to win the match as well, which ended in a 3-2 loss.
“I’m delighted to receive this award and I would like to thank all the Rovers fans who voted for me. The goal itself was a sweet strike and a technique that I often practice during training — so to see it come off during a game was pleasing! While I was happy with the goal, I would have traded it all in for the three points on the night.”
