Conor Gallagher, currently on loan from Chelsea at Premier League relegation-bound West Bromwich Albion, picked up a wonderful assist today with a beautiful, curving, first-time ball in to Mbaye Diagne in the 2nd minute of the match against Manchester United, which the latter converted.
While officially this was Gallagher’s first assist this season, to go along with two goals, he has undoubtedly been one of West Brom’s best players, under both Slaven Bilić and now under Sam Allardyce as well.
While the Baggies were unable to hold on to their early lead, they still battled to a point against our top-four rivals. The singular point gained may not make much difference in West Brom’s relegation fight — they, alongside Sheffield United and Fulham are surely too far adrift already! — but the two points dropped by Manchester United could have major repercussions in the Champions League qualification battle. Should Chelsea win tomorrow, we would be just 4 points behind second place!
Well done, Conor!
