Billy Gilmour was linked with a deadline day move to Southampton earlier today, but according to the latest reports, he is set to stay at Chelsea for the time being.
The Saints were hoping to bring in the Scotland U21 international on loan for the remainder of the season, but Thomas Tuchel has apparently blocked off a move after being impressed with the youngster in training. Letting Gilmour depart would have meant that we would have been left with only 3 deep midfielders for 2 spots.
Also told Gilmour will get chances and game time from Thomas Tuchel, who has been impressed by him in training.

Similarly, Marcos Alonso appears to be on the resurgence journey after being reinstated by Tuchel into the matchday lineup yesterday, and his brilliant performance in his favored role means that the Spaniard will also stay at Chelsea and compete with Ben Chilwell for the LB/LWB spot.
Perhaps not surprising given his appearance and fine goal against Burnley, but told Marcos Alonso is definitely staying at #CFC.

Clubs in Premier League and Europe had shown interest over a loan deal but Thomas Tuchel’s arrival as coach has improved Alonso’s fortunes.
Emerson and Faustino Anjorin will also stay at Chelsea and hope to impress the new manager, who has promised equal opportunities for all the players, even as we look set to compete on multiple fronts in the second half of the season.
I am hearing none of Gilmour, Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso will be going out of Chelsea today. Thomas Tuchel keeping doors open to the whole squad. #CFC

In addition to the Gilmour news, I’m told Tino Anjorin will be staying at Chelsea. Plenty of loan interest in him from England and Europe this month but he had positive talks with Tuchel this week.
