Halloween and the Day of the Dead are just around the corner, but it’s Christian Pulisic who has risen from his proverbial grave to return to Chelsea training today. Don’t be afraid, boys! He’s a friendly ghost.
Joining Pulisic were three more of the players who had missed Tuesday’s League Cup match against Southampton, including N’Golo Kanté, Andreas Christensen, and César Azpilicueta. Azpi has been dealing with a shoulder problem while Christensen had some sort of tooth procedure that wasn’t just a standard filling, evidently. Kanté meanwhile was kept out of our last two games as a precaution after complaining about muscle tightness last week.
Unfortunately, there’s no word or picture on Ruben Loftus-Cheek, so his hip injury may be a bit more serious. Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner expectedly missed out as well.
But it’s Pulisic’s return that’s the big headline here. He hasn’t played (for Chelsea) since the opening day of the season, over two months ago. He had been doing some fitness work on the side, but hopefully he can get back up to speed quickly and, most importantly, stay healthy for a while now.
