The good vibes of invincibility have turned slightly sour at Stamford Bridge over the past week, with back-to-back 1-0 losses taking the shine off our good start to the season. It’s important to not to blow those results out of proportion, but it’s also important to not let this mini-slump linger for too much longer.
Saturday’s home game against Southampton, our last for two weeks thanks to yet another international break, is an opportunity tailor-made to right the ship.
We will hopefully have Mason Mount back for that game. The rest of the quartet who missed the midweek match will likely continue to miss out, with Reece James and Christian Pulisic dealing with ankle injuries (and the former perhaps closer to returning, even), and N’Golo Kanté isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.
Tuchel’s usual first-choice players have not been producing, especially in attack. Might it be time to give a few others a try?
