Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Thomas Tuchel today as the next non-interim manager of the club, though the former Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, and Mainz 04 head coach has signed only a 1.5-year contract (with an option for a extra year).
Tuchel replaces club legend Frank Lampard, who was sacked Monday morning after a similar length of time in charge of the club.

Chelsea are currently mired in 9th place in the Premier League, and Tuchel will be expected to improve on that, getting us back into the top four, while also continuing our quest for trophies in the FA Cup and the Champions League.
“It is never easy to change Head Coach in the middle of the season but we are very happy to secure one of Europe’s best coaches in Thomas Tuchel. There is still much to play for and much to achieve, this season and beyond. We welcome Thomas to the Club.”

Tuchel has worked with the likes of Thiago Silva and Christian Pulisic at his previous clubs, and he will also expected to get the most out of our Bundesliga contingent of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner. And of course the rest of the squad as well, young and old.
The new head coach will be taking his first training session today and will be in the dugout for tomorrow’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“I would like to thank Chelsea FC for their confidence in me and my staff.
“We all have the greatest respect for Frank Lampard’s work and the legacy he created at Chelsea. At the same time, I cannot wait to meet my new team and compete in the most exciting league in football. I am grateful to now be part of the Chelsea family — it feels amazing!”

And thus begins the newest managerial chapter at Chelsea Football Club.
Welcome, Thomas! Let’s win some things!
